Update on our family

Just wanted to share what little updates we have from the past few doctors appointments between Justin & I! :)

Justin went last Friday, April 30th for an MRI on Lejeune and we were able to get a disc of the MRI but we don't have results! & of course aren't doctors so can't read the disc! haha We have a follow up on May 10th so we should get to hear all the results then! :) They were basically checking on his cyst to see if it has gotten any larger since his last MRI in Germany. They have already told us the cyst has nothing to do with his seizures but they still want to keep an eye on it and if nothing seems to be changing then they will leave it alone. Kinda like if it's not broken, don't fix it. So, we are continuing to pray and have faith that everything is going to be alright and we will get good news!

I went for my (very late) 28 weeks OB appointment on Monday, May 3rd. I say late because I was actually 30 weeks & 5 days at this appointment. I never had an appointment in April because of all the scheduling and me going out of town and then my doctor going out of town, etc...so we just didn't get one. I did however, go right before I left to the labs to have my glucose testing done ((yuck)) Anyways, so they said that if I just scheduled an appt as soon as we got back that we would be fine! This appointment to say the least was very interesting because over the time away I had came up with tons of questions/concerns. I went in, and of course the weight gain since my last appointment was shockingly disturbing! LOL I was like OMG I can't believe I've gained that much since then! So, we definitely know our little girl is growing perfectly fine & healthy! Although, once they checked my blood pressure and all, it was quite a bit higher than normal. Which I can admit that maybe I've been a little more stressed than usual since we've come home from our little vaca to TN and trying to get back on track. About two weeks ago, my feet, legs and hands starting swelling often too so I am trying to take it easy and relax more. I go back on May 13th for my 32 weeks OB appointment so we'll see how I'm doing then!

& Justin went to his neuro-specialist appointment Tuesday, May 4th in Chapel Hill ((yesterday)) basically for his initial appointment! Bummer we weren't there for more than that since it was a 3 hour drive to get there! Everything went very well though. As we walked out, Justin told me he felt a lot better overall after talking to Dr. Felix! ((she was a wonderful doctor! I think we will enjoy seeing her more)) I mentioned before that we aren't Doctor's so we couldn't read the MRI results, however, DR. Felix is, so we took our disc with us and she popped it in the computer and was able to show us everything on it. ((this was the first time we had actually saw the cyst so it was really cool to see it and Justin's whole head/brain MRI!)) She also told us that she was pretty certain that the cyst is not related to his seizures because although they can't tell exactly how long it's been there, but that it had been there for a very, veryy long time. The skull is molded around it.
Other appointments to come are his sleep study (we'll have to stay overnight for) and she wants him to get an opinion from a neuro-surgeon just to be sure on where we stand with the cyst. And she wants him to also have an evaluation just on how he is dealing with everything & to make sure the thoughts of transition from the military back to civilian life isn't depressing him, etc. Which of course, it's been tough. Everyone close to us knows that this is not something we thought would ever happen but we can't change it and life must go on. JUstin wanted to re-enlist so now not having that option is taking a toll on us but we are ready for anything that comes our way! We are fighters and stand for what we deserve! & thankfully, Dr. Felix said she is going to make all these appointments happen in the same day since we are traveling a distance to get there and I am pregnant!
Whew, so there is a gyst of the updates going on with us right now! More to come soon since we should have at least 4-5  more appointments within the next month between the two of us!
