This day last year, I found out I was pregnant! It's so crazy to think it's already been a full year and my sweet girl is here and 4 1/2 months old! I want to share my story.
October 30th, 2009, (little did I know I was carrying my girl already) I was freezing cold, waiting in the parking lot for the buses to come get my husband and the other half of 2/2 so I could officially start my Donut of Misery countdown to my husband coming home to me. It was one of the toughest things I had ever done at that point; saying 'see you later' to my man, my hero, my Marine...it's one of those things, you have to experience to understand. Thank goodness I had one of my closest friends, Gayla, there with me that night. Also, another one of those 'Marine wife' things that only we'd understand. Anyways, my point to even mentioning this day is that I had one of those 'feelings' that I was pregnant, but had no idea yet. (I think I might have even had a conversation with Gayla that night about the topic, haha) Maybe it was because I was secretly hoping that I was since it was that last bit of hope I could have until Justin returned safely from his duty.
I let the weekend pass by, trying to come to terms with my husband being gone but trying to stay as positive and as strong as I could, for myself, Justin, and all the other Military wives going through the same thing.
On Monday, at cheer practice, another close friend, Karla, & I were talking and long story short, she told me I pretty much needed to go home and take a test because she found out the week before that she was pregnant, lol. Not that just because she was pregnant, I was pregnant, but you know what I mean. (Karla and I were volunteer cheer coaches for the youth sports on Camp Lejuene) I was nervous and scared at the same time and didn't want to test just incase I got a negative, so I waited until the next morning. Seriously, first thing, I got up and immediately peed on that dang stick and waited what seemed like forever, although it was instantly 2 pink lines :) :) HALLELUJAH! Karla was the very first person I told, I wanted her to know that we'd be pregnant together! (5 days apart to be exact) I called her within minutes of gathering myself back up after my jump for joy! Gayla, was the second person to know and then my mom. I waited to tell Justin before I told anyone else, which took 2 days before he got to call. I remember, like it was yesterday, the sound of his voice of being so happy and excited that we were finally having a baby. Makes me smile just thinking about it. Maybe this isn't the best story you've ever read but it's a story that I'll never forget, definitely one of the best days ever and some of the best news anyone could ever receive. I didn't waist time, calling Naval Hospital to go in to "confirm" my news, which was the next day!
Well, that's my story....and I'm stickin' to it ;)
