the babbling b

As I sit here, thinking to myself what I am going to write in this blog post, I seriously have came to the conclusion that I have a crap ton of things on my mind! Not that I am going to share everything, just thought that was some necessary info ;)

My daughter is sleeping peacefully upstairs, and my husband is sleeping (probably uncomfortably) in the recliner. I take that back, maybe not uncomfortably, we have a la-z-boy and I find it pretty comfy at naptime! Anyways, he's not sleeping there because he has too, he sleeping there because he fell asleep there and I haven't woke him up to go night night yet! By the end of this, I may be telling you some funny stories because he likes to talk in his sleep at times!

A few quick updates on life, ect... As far as everyday living, we are all doing wonderful, still taking each day one at a time! Still no "new" news on Justin's status in the Marine Corps. I mean, we know we will eventually be moving away from here, we just don't know when. & believe it or not, I am going to be one sad lady the day we do! I honestly don't even want to think about it! Yeah, I wanna get out of this 'not knowing anything/hurry up and wait' stage so we can finally move on and do something with ourselves but leaving the wonderful friends that I have and my house just makes me heart hurt already!

Speaking of friends, the ones I have made here, will always be a part of me (whether they like it or not) No matter where I go. Wait, I have a quote for this...‎"We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere." --- Tim McGraw
That is especially going out to all my friends who have PCS'd or has hit EAS! Thank goodness for Facebook and blogging so we may all still keep close! I miss you all SO much and I'm very thankful to have you in my life!
While I still have wonderful friends here, I love yall too!! :) I honestly think I am closer to all of our friends here than I am with the friends I grew up with! Which makes it even more harder to think about one day leaving!

I am also trying to mend a friendship that will always mean a lot to me. This is sorta a touchy subject. I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, when you spend everyday with someone, live less than 5 down the street, and work together, pretty much like sisters, the girl is gonna be your best friend. With that, comes stupid fights, more drama than you want and feelings hurt. I've always been told that positive things outweigh the negative. With that said, comes support, love, fun, laughs, you get the point. We are working on it and in the end, I think everything is gonna be alright.

I actually want to continue writing because I'm not finished sayin' all I wanted to say but I don't think I can hold these eyelids open too much longer. So, I am leaving you all with a picture of another onesie I made tonight! Turning into a much craftier person! Not bad, eh? lol

I decided to go with a cursive writing this time (much trickier but it turned out great)

Easy Peasy

Photobucket

I recently read and learned about how to use freezer paper as a stencil for painting fabric. Very cool and easy technique!

After reading and being very interested in the post, I remembered the 5 pack of Gerber onesies I have stashed in Abby's closet just waiting to be worn! So, I darted upstairs, grabbed the onesies and sent Justin to Kmart for some freezer paper and fabric paint! (little did I know, Kmart doesn't have fabric paint) Long story short, I had to wait till the next day to run to Michael's to pick some up! Then I was able to start on my crafty project!

Photobucket

here are the items you need:: stencils, freezer paper, exacto knife, tape, fabric paint, paint brushes, and an iron. You may print your stencil's or do as I did and trace them (on the DULL side)

Photobucket

Using my exacto knife, I cut out my letters. Remember you are creating a stencil so don't forget to leave paper around the edges. Then, I ironed my stencil onto my onesie. (shiny side down)

Photobucket

I then painted over my stencil, being sure to cover it well. (you may need more than one coat) I would also recommend buying the 'matte' finish. I accidently grabbed 'pearl' orange and it ended up having glitter in it. (oh well, looks great anyway)

Photobucket

Try to go back to elementary school and remember how you learned to 'color inside the lines' of your stencil. I read this in the tutorial and I STILL ended up getting carried away and painted on the outside fabric. (only a little but I can tell, so it annoys me, ha.)

Photobucket

I'm a little dare devil and went with some polka dots on my stencils too! ;)

Photobucket

I let it dry overnight (although it really only takes a few hours, depending on how many coats you used) but since I started this pretty late, I decided I'd finish in the morning.

Photobucket

Carefully peel off the freezer paper and be proud of yourself (cause I sure was!) I am already trying to think of another stencil to make that can be more challenging next time!

Photobucket

Put a cloth over your onesie and iron over the finish to 'seal' it. Viola! How cute is this onesie!

Then, I threw the girl in some super cute hot pink legwarmers and her hot pink kufi knit hat with a green bow! Although my sweet 7 month old was feeling under the weather today, she modeled this onesie like she was a VS model on the runway!

Hooray for Awards!

I am shocked to say the least but, I was awarded the Stylish Blogger Award from Molly over at Down the Rabbit Hole. Her blog is fun to read and defines her personality well! Being a Marine and a spouse to a Marine, well you can only imagine! ;) Head over and read what she has to say!

As with most everything, there are some rules to this award and they are as follows:

  1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you the award.
  2. Share 7 things about yourself.
  3. Award 15 other bloggers.
  4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award.

7 things about me...

  1. I'm from a small town in Tennessee where everybody knows everybody and if for some reason you don't know where you are or what you're doing, some else does.
  2. 2010 blessed my dear husband and I with one of God's greatest gifts. Life. The life of a small, innocent, precious baby girl.
  3. I married the love of my life only 2 months out of high school. Some would call me crazy but I wouldn't have it any other way. 3 1/2 years and still going strong!
  4. I love photography. It's always been a passion and one day I hope to come out of my shell and show the world the little things that capture my eye.
  5. I have this vision in my head, almost like a dream, of what Justin & I plan to do after leaving North Carolina. I want to live in a small, nice, cozy house. With a huge kitchen. Really, please please don't forget to make the kitchen so big that I have a hard time remembering where the cups are! And, I want a lot of land. So I can let gorgeous horses graze and cows..uhh...moo? ha. okay long story short. I want a farm. with a pretty house. and a big kitchen.
  6. I am probably the easiest person to ever talk to.
  7. I am not a huge fan of having to write things about myself. Whew, thank goodness this is over :)

So...the blogs I believe deserve this award....

**I only chose my top 11 because these are the ones I keep up with the most.
